Thai national fonts

The 14 families of the Thai national font set, with TH Sarabun New and TH Sarabun PSK at the centre.

The national fonts are Thai typefaces released by the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) and the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) so that offices, schools and the public would have good Thai fonts free of charge. In 2010 the Thai cabinet asked government offices to use them, with TH Sarabun PSK as the face for official documents; its update, TH Sarabun New, is the version many offices use today.

This collection lists all 14 families: 11 with files you can download here, and TH Charm of AU, TH Charmonman and TH Srisakdi as links, because their notice grants distribution to DIP and SIPA only. Cadson Demak later revised most of them under the Open Font License, usually with more weights, as Sarabun, Krub, Niramit, K2D and others. The national fonts set small for their point size, which is why Thai documents are usually set at 16 pt.

Questions people ask

Which font should I use for a Thai government document?

TH Sarabun New at 16 pt is what most offices expect. Older templates may use TH Sarabun PSK, which looks almost the same. Check the template or the office's own instructions if you have them.

Why are three national fonts not available to download here?

TH Charm of AU, TH Charmonman and TH Srisakdi carry a notice that grants distribution to DIP and SIPA only, not to the public, so we link to the official distribution instead. Their open revisions, Charm, Charmonman and Srisakdi, are here to download.
